A few words about Karl Wright

Born and raised in Montego Bay, Jamaica, Karl started playing professionally at age fifteen in the Montego Bay Boys’ Club Orchestra. He honed his craft in his band as drummer and vocalist performing in hotels, nightclubs, and stages all over Jamaica. During this time Karl taught drumming techniques to adults and children at the Montego Bay Boys’ & Girls’ Club and Herbert Morrison High. After migrating to the USA, Karl continued teaching music to adults and children at his studio in Brooklyn, New York. As one of the most proficient drummers in the world today, Karl was given the nickname Metronome by his peers; he is one of Jamaica’s top drummers having performed with Jimmy Cliff, Maxi Priest, Rita Marley, Yellowman, Marcia Griffiths, Judy Mowatt, the Manhattans, Beres Hammond, Peter Tosh Celebration Band, Monty Alexander, Ernest Ranglin, and other renowned Jazz, R&B, and Reggae artists.
