A few words about Marco Jentzsch

Marco Jentzsch made his vocal studies e.g. with Prof. Irmgard Hartmann-Dressler. In February 2003, he participated successfully at the International Song Contest of the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg and performed in the prizewinner gala with the Staatskapelle Berlin. At the festival, he sang the roles of Oberon/Max in Siegfried Matthus’ opera collage Welch schöne Nacht.

He received the first prize „Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg 2003 for further education“ offered by the private Foundation Vera and Volker Doppelfeld. This prize included an engagement as a scholarship holder at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin during season 2003/04. At the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg Festival in summer 2004 he sang Tamino in the new production of Die Zauberflöte.

In the season 2005/06 he was a firm member of the Theater Erfurt and also made a guest appearance as Leicester in the new production of Maria Stuarda at Stadttheater Giessen. From 2006 to 2008, he belonged to the ensemble of the Niedersächsisches Staatstheater Hannover, where he sang e.g. Tamino, Belmonte, Steuermann, Edgardo and Rosillon. In summer 2009 he performed Belmonte at Staatsoper Unter den Linden.

In Dortmund he sang Max in the new production of Der Freischütz as well as the title part in Lohengrin, and with this role he was also guest at Leipzig Opera. In autumn 2009, Marco Jentzsch made his role debut as Stolzing in a new production of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at Cologne Opera. He has been invited to sing this role also at Komische Oper Berlin and at Glyndebourne Festival Opera 2011.

He made his role debut as Erik in a new production of Der fliegende Holländer at the Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam (also released on DVD). His first appearance at La Scala Milan was in the role of Froh/Das Rheingold under the baton of Daniel Barenboim, and he also performed this part at Staatsoper unter den Linden. Most recently he sang with great success the title part of Wagner’s Parsifal in Cologne, Erik in Hamburg and Bacchus in Cologne.

Future engagements include a.o.: Parsifal at Cologne Opera, Parsifal in Santiago de Chile as well as Erik at Zürich Opera House (including a guest performance in London).
