The Collegiate Chorale

A few words about The Collegiate Chorale

Among New York’s foremost choruses, The Collegiate Chorale has added to the richness of the city’s cultural fabric for over 70 years. Conducted by James Bagwell, The Chorale has established a preeminent reputation for its interpretations of traditional choral repertoire, vocal works by American composers, and rarely heard operas-in-concert, as well as commissions and premieres by today’s most prominent composers. The Chorale has performed with such soloists as Stephanie Blythe, Thomas Hampson, Angela Meade, Eric Owens, Rene Papé, Thomas Quasthoff, Bryn Terfel, and Deborah Voigt.

In 2005 The Chorale appeared at the Verbier Festival, conducted by James Levine. Following the success of that performance, they returned to the Festival in 2006, 2007, 2009, and 2011. In July 2008 and 2012, The Chorale toured Israel with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and Zubin Mehta, and in 2012, became the first American chorus to perform at the Salzburg Festival since 1989.
