A regular ensemble partner with such musicians as Nadja Michael and Kristof Barati, the Russian pianist Zarina Shimanskaya has performed across Russia, Europe and Asia in solo, orchestra and chamber music concerts. Amongst others, her appearances include engagements in Wigmore Hall, Mozarteum, Laeiszhalle Hamburg, Mariinsky Concert Hall, Grand Hall of Moscow Conservatory, Radial System Berlin, Juedisches Kulturzentrum in Munich, Klavier Festival at Brucknerhaus in Linz, Diaghilev Festival in Perm and Stars of the White Nights festival in St Petersburg. Miss Shimanskaya has collaborated with orchestras under the batons of Ravil Martynov, Pavel Gribanov, Vasiliy Valitov and Teodor Currentzis.
Her repertoire reflects her many interests in exploring and interpreting the world’s music literature and ranges from Tchaikovsky’s piano concerto No 1 and Mozart’s d-minor concerto to works by Frank Martin, Krzysztof Penderecki, Alfred Schnittke and Rodion Shchedrin.
Educated both in Russian ( by professor Nina Seregina In Saint – Petersburg Conservatory) and European (Evgeni Koroliov in Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg ) traditions, she continues to perfect her craft in master-classes with such artists as Arie Vardi, Alexei Lubimov, Leonid Brumberg, Stephen Kovacevich, Alexander Toradze and Leonidas Kavakos.
As a child, with dreams of becoming a composer, Zarina Shimanskaya attended a music school for outstandingly gifted children in her native city of St Petersburg, gaining special recognitions from St Petersburg Philharmonia Society and making her debut at the legendary Leningrad Philharmonia Hall at the age of eleven. Zarina Shimanskaya is a prize winner and a special prize winner for her performance of Johann Sebastian Bach’s music at the 2nd international piano competitionVirtuosi of the XXI century (Moscow, 1999) as well as a prize winner of the 5th Giuseppe Terracciano International Piano Competition (Giffoni Sei Casali, 2009).
Prize-winner at the international competition Virtuosi of the 21st Century in Moscow (1999), the International Giuseppe Terracciano Competition in Giffoni Sei Casali (2009) and the international competition Ibla Grand Prize in Ragusa (2017).
In the 2016 – 2017 season she performed a signature concert „Zarina Shimanskaya and friends“ in Landhaus, Linz, recital with Kristóf Baráti and István Várdai at “ The Stars of White Nights“ Festival , took part in a performance of „Les Noces“ by Stravinsky Anniversary celebration at the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre and appeared at the Imola Summer Piano Academy Festival.
Engagements for the 2017-2018 season include a concert for Hungarian Radio with Kristóf Baráti, an appearance with Nadja Michael at the Bruckner Festival in Linz and solo recital at the International Piano Festival at the Mariinsky Theatre and the Verbier Festival.
