Over the last 20 years, the Verbier Festival has become one of the world’s most important and innovative music festivals. An integral part of its DNA is the commitment to learning and education.
Several world-class and international learning initiatives for young people have been created:
– The Academy (for solo musicians up to the age of 28),
– The Orchestras:
> the Verbier Festival Junior Orchestra (VFJO, symphonic orchestra for musicians aged between 15 and 18),
> the Verbier Festival Orchestra (VFO, symphonic orchestra for musicians aged between 18 and 28),
> the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra (VFCO, for former musicians of the symphonic orchestra).
Thanks to a creative approach, the Festival encourages young musicians to « make an impression » through a unique combination of acting training and encouraging self-awareness. The Festival is also committed to actively help the students to consider how they can take classical music out of the concert hall, how to become a community resource and how to invest themselves in reaching out to new audiences. A small fund has been built up to help them create new projects in this area.
