Volunteer positions

There are different roles to match your interest and skills.

Information Officer

With such a full programme at the Verbier Festival, festivalgoers sometimes need guidance on which event to choose and where to go – or perhaps they. need updates on last-minute changes. There are also tourists visiting Verbier who are not even aware there is a festival taking place! In this volunteer role, you will keep visitors informed, face to face or over the phone.

BENEFITS: You will be in direct contact with festivalgoers and the festival team and up to speed on the latest news about the festival. You will be free in the evenings to attend concerts.

PROFILE: You must be very familiar with the Verbier Festival as well as the town of Verbier. You are outgoing, inquisitive and good at searching out information. You know how to stay calm under pressure and are responsive and diplomatic. You speak French and English, and ideally some other languages too.

Mainstage Audience Welcome Team

When members of the audience arrive at the Salle des Combins or L’Église, you will be there to guide and inform them. When the bell rings before the performance, you will welcome the audience into the hall, scan their tickets and answer any questions they have. You will remain at hand during the concert, working with the technical team to manage the audience – for instance, if someone has left their mobile phone on or is trying to take a photo when it is not permitted, or is maybe trying to leave the hall during the performance.

BENEFITS: You will be in direct contact with festivalgoers and the festival team. You will be able to attend concerts.

PROFILE: You have preferably already worked as a steward at the Verbier Festival or another festival or concert hall. You are personable, patient and responsive. You are team-oriented and service-minded. You like to work in a dynamic environment. If you speak several languages ​​it is a plus.

Masterclasses Greeting Team

Masterclasses for musicians from the Academy and Festival Orchestras sometimes draw crowds. Your role will be to welcome and manage the audience before, during and after the masterclass.

BENEFITS: You will have close contact with teachers, students and the entire Verbier Festival Academy team. You will be able to attend masterclasses.

PROFILE: You are patient, you like to take initiative and you know how to stay calm and be diplomatic. If you speak several languages, ​​it is a plus.

UNLIMITED Events Welcome Team

A variety of events take place around the classical music at the festival, many of them at no charge to members of the public. You will be there to welcome festivalgoers and keep them informed. You might also be called upon to help out the logistics team at the event.

BENEFITS: You will work closely with the VF Unlimited team, artists and speakers, and experience exciting events at first hand

PROFILE: You enjoy a variety of challenges, making yourself useful and taking the initiative. You have an interest in the world of classical music. If you speak several languages, ​​it is a plus.

VF KIDS Events Welcome Team

Some VF Unlimited events are especially designed for children, who tend to need a little more supervision than adults! This is an opportunity to exercise both your organisational skills and your creativity.

BENEFITS: There’s lots of variety – and fun – and you will be free in the evenings to attend concerts.

PROFILE: You enjoy working with children, taking the initiative and making yourself useful. If you speak several languages,​ ​it is a plus.

Press Assistant

The Verbier Festival attracts journalists from all over the world. We need you to welcome them, keep them informed and help them find their way around the town of Verbier.

BENEFITS: You will play a crucial role in the operation of a busy press office and enjoy close contact with Swiss and international journalists, world-class artists and the festival team.

PROFILE: You are familiar with the workings of the media environment and the world of classical music. You are efficient and flexible, and your strong interpersonal skills are complemented by a service mentality and a sense of professionalism. You speak several languages ​​(fluent English and French required).

Guest Relations & Protocol Assistant

The Verbier Festival welcomes many guests and VIPs. We need you to greet them, inform them, act as their guide and look after their needs. In particular, you will be required to support the Protocol team and the Association of Friends of the Verbier Festival at the opening evening of the Festival and at post-concert dinners.

BENEFITS: You will become familiar with the operation of the Protocol team and will enjoy contact with national and international personalities, world-class artists and the Festival team.

PROFILE: You are familiar with the world of classical music and comfortable in dealing with important people. You are efficient and flexible and your strong interpersonal skills are complemented by a service mentality and a sense of professionalism. You speak several languages ​(fluent English and French required). You must be ready to work in the evenings.

Press Clipping Service

The Verbier Festival generates substantial media coverage. It is important to maintain a comprehensive archive of articles and reviews, and to share the best of them on the Festival’s website and around the town of Verbier. Your job will be to locate articles and reviews and choose the best lines to quote from them.

BENEFITS: You will learn how a press office works and play a key role in the publication and dissemination of content though the Festival’s various channels, working at both a national and international level.

PROFILE: You are good at research, meticulous and observant. You speak French and English. Other languages ​​are an asset (German, Italian, Russian, Chinese).

Social Media Content Creator

The Verbier Festival shares its exciting events and unique atmosphere on social networks. You will need to be on the spot at the festival, capturing special moments in words and images.

BENEFITS: You will attend a range of concerts and events at the Verbier Festival and gain experience in digital communication for a world-class institution.

PROFILE: You are familiar with social networks and how they work. You have an eye for striking photos and compelling videos. You are familiar with editing techniques for short video formats or other types of web content. You are observant and good at putting your thoughts into words.

Welcome Pack Preparation Team

The Verbier Festival likes artists, journalists, colleagues and guests to feel welcome and special, so each of them receives a welcome pack. Your role will be to prepare these gift packs (and maybe collect a few gift samples of your own along the way).

BENEFITS: You will work in a relaxed atmosphere, collaborating closely with the Hospitality team. There will be no contact with the public and you will only be needed for two hours in the latter part of the morning.

PROFILE: You are fast, flexible and organized.

Backstage Staff

The Verbier Festival believes in making artists feel at home and you will help in preparing their dressing rooms and making sure they have what they need backstage.

ADVANTAGES: You will have close contact with the artists appearing at the Festival.

PROFILE: You speak French and English fluently; you have a service mentality and a sense of discretion. You are familiar with the world of classical music and confident in dealing with important people.

 

Orchestra’s Canteen Coordinator

The players of the VFO and VFCO have lunch and dinner in the canteen. The atmosphere is relaxed. You will be there to welcome them and to make sure everything runs smoothly for their meal.

BENEFITS: You will enjoy close contact with the musicians and management teams of the orchestras, and a meal is included as part of your work.

PROFILE: You are fluent in French and English; you show initiative and enjoy contact with people.

Mainstage Video Screen Operator

Before the concert, at the interval, and after the concert, videos are shown on the TV monitors at the Salle des Combins. The technical team is often busy with other urgent tasks at these times, so your role will be to ensure that the videos are up and running.

 BENEFITS: You will work closely with the technical team and attend concerts in the Salle des Combins.

 PROFILE: You are at ease with computers and technology.
