recording engineer
Ana Maria Gonzalez Sarmiento is a Colombian-Canadian recording engineer currently pursuing a Master of Music in Sound Recording at McGill University. She began her musical training as a chorister with the Schola Cantorum of Bogotá’s Primatial Cathedral and later studied choral conducting at the Pontifical Xavierian University, where she was awarded an Academic Excellence Scholarship and served as assistant conductor of the university choirs. From 2016 to 2020, she directed the cathedral’s children’s choir and performed with the professional ensemble Sociedad Santa Cecilia, collaborating with conductors including Kent Nagano and Gustavo Dudamel. Following the pandemic, she shifted her focus to audio production, building on her experience as a conductor. Her work is shaped by a strong sense of ensemble, clarity of musical intention, and a practical understanding of how performers interact within a recorded space.
