Since his triumph in 1998 at the International Tchaikovsky Competition, Denis Matsuev has established himself as one of the greatest pianists of his generation. He has directed numerous festivals and educational projects, including as president of the New Names Foundation, which discovers and supports talented children and develops musical education in his native Russia. More than 10,000 young people have received support and professional opportunities as a result. Among other distinctions, he is Artistic Director of the Rachmaninoff Foundation, a member of the Presidential Council for Culture and the Arts, Artist Emeritus and Head of the Public Council of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. In 2014, UNESCO also designated him a Goodwill Ambassador.
