Biography
Lost Heritage is an electronic music ensemble composed of François Vasseur and Pierre Chataignon. It collaborates with various artists on different projects, including video artist Cédric Fact and double bassist Franck Cottet Dumoulin. Blending electronic and classical influences, the ensemble explores diverse sonic experiences to create a hybrid, intense, and resolutely modern sound. Its productions incorporate field recordings captured during travels, a variety of acoustic instruments, and the latest music technologies. The style of Lost Heritage is characterized by cinematic atmospheres, compelling melodic motifs, and refined production.
In 2019, the ensemble was officially selected for the Classical Next festival in Rotterdam in the Club Showcase category. That same year, it created the opening performance for the Yves Saint Laurent exhibition at the Musée des Tissus de Lyon, a commission by the museum and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region. In 2021, Lost Heritage collaborated with soprano Jeanne Gérard and integrated a light installation by the Scale collective at UNLTD during the Verbier Festival.
Performances have taken place in prestigious venues such as the Montreux Jazz Festival, La Grange au Lac in Évian, the Grand Théâtre de Genève, and the Verbier Festival. Lost Heritage has also opened for renowned artists, including Myd at the High Five Festival in Annecy and Oxia at the Evian Resort Golf Club.
Continuing to explore new sonic horizons, both in the studio and on stage, the ensemble is driven by a hybrid approach and a strong passion for experimentation, multiplying collaborations and adapting to ever-evolving artistic contexts. Its latest project, UnRavelled—created for the 150th anniversary of Maurice Ravel’s birth—features François Vasseur and video artist Cédric Fact, offering an immersive dialogue between sound and live visual creation.
