This spectacular concert opens the 2020 Verbier Festival, which will offer manifold tributes to Beethoven in his 250th birthday year.

Conducted by Valery Gergiev, Music Director of the Verbier Festival Orchestra, it concludes with Beethoven’s visionary 9th Symphony.  Joining the orchestra and the choral forces of the Oberwalliser Vokalensemble is the lustrous vocal quartet of Camilla Nylund, Magdalena Kožená, Evan Leroy Johnson and René Pape.

The first half of the concert unites a starry trio of instrumental soloists, all regular visitors to Verbier: pianist Yuja Wang, violinist Leonidas Kavakos and cellist Gautier Capuçon. They promise to provide a joyous upbeat to the 2020 Festival with Beethoven’s Triple Concerto.
