MIKHAIL PLETNEV

SCRIABIN & BACH
The exceptionally virtuosic Mikhaïl Pletnev presents a selection of works by Scriabin and Chopin’s beautiful cycle of Piano Préludes.
Programme

ALEXANDER SCRIABIN (1872-1915)
24 Preludes Op. 11

Interval

FRÉDÉRIC CHOPIN (1810-1849)
24 Preludes Op. 28

There are 24 Chopin’s Preludes (although they are not followed by fugues). A series of very short pieces of varying difficulty – including the famous No. 15, the longest of the series and the only one to have the nickname “The Water Drop” – they reveal stylistic treasures in turn: nocturne, etude, funeral march or mazurka.
