Making a much-anticipated debut at the Verbier Festival is French-Swiss tenor Benjamin Bernheim. Now a regular presence at the world’s leading opera houses, he has been described by Opera magazine as “the romantic French tenor we have all been waiting for”.
In autumn 2019, when Bernheim sang Berlioz’s song cycle Les Nuits d’été in Evian, Le Temps wrote: “He never forces; he lets the phrases blossom naturally as his voice opens up for full-toned, rounded top notes, always maintaining exemplary diction. His warmth, tenderness and poetry made this a moving reading.”
Berlioz is joined in this programme by Schumann, Duparc and Strauss, and Bernheim is joined by Canadian-born pianist Carrie-Ann Matheson, currently a conductor and coach at the Zurich Opera and formerly a member of the music staff at New York’s Metropolitan Opera.BACK TO THE PROGRAMME
