STORYTELLERS I / HÄNSEL AND GRETEL

meeting singers of the academy
In a new workshop each day, children learn about the tale of Hänsel and Gretel and discover classical music and musical instruments while creating illustrations that will be animated during a performance at the week's end. In this third workshop, children take part in a great treasure hunt and search for the two protagonists of the story. Workshop for kids ages 5 to 10.

Each summer, a week-long Storytellers project is presented during the Verbier Festival.

During the school year, more than 1,000 pupils take part in this engaging education project in classrooms through French-speaking Switzerland .  The programme introduces children to classical music through the window of their own imaginations. Their musical adventure begins with a well-known children’s story; its characters and situations are described through music and drawing. After several classroom visits, children are led by their classroom teachers and by musicians and educators from the Verbier Festival toward a final performance featuring musical performances by alumni of the Verbier Festival Academy (the UNLTD Collective), narration by actor René-Claude Emery, and original drawings by the children and set into motion by illustrator and animator Marc Philippin.

Participatory and multidisciplinary, Storytellers allows children to approach music and the arts in a playful and inventive way.
