audience relations team
When the public arrives at Mainstage venues—Salle des Combins and Église de Verbier—members of the Audience Relations Team are there to guide and inform. These volunteers usher the public into the venue after the chime sounds prior to performances , scan tickets and answer questions. They remain on hand throughout each concert to deal with a number of issues, including, but not limited to, ensuring mobile telephones are quickly turned off if they sound during a performance, ensuring there is no photography or recording of performances, and ensuring that audience members enter and exit the venues only at appropriate times.
PERKS: These volunteers are in direct contact with Festivalgoers and the Festival team and are able to enjoy concerts.
PROFILE: You have preferably previously worked as an attendant or usher at the Verbier Festival or another festival or performance venue. You are personable, patient and responsive. You are team-oriented and service-minded. You like to work in a dynamic environment. Speaking several languages, including French and English, is a plus.
Academy (Masterclasses and Open-Rehearsals)
Academy masterclasses and orchestra open-rehearsals are very popular each summer. The Academy Audience Relations Team greets and manages the entry of the public into these events.
In the interest of contact tracing, entry to masterclasses in 2021 will require reservation. Volunteers on this team will scan reservations and/or check reservation lists before ushering the Festivalgoers into the classes. They remain on hand throughout each class to deal with a number of issues, including, but not limited to ensuring mobile telephones are quickly turned off if they sound during the class, ensuring there is no photography nor recording of classes (except by official photographers), ensuring that audience members enter and exit the venues only at appropriate times, and showing VIPs to their reserved seats.
Also, in the interest of contact tracing, entry to open-rehearsals will require an electronic check-in, possibly via a mobile phone app. Prior reservation may not be required, but members of this volunteer team will ensure that all Festivalgoers entering an open-rehearsal are accounted for.
Volunteers on this team will ensure that physical distancing measures are respected in masterclass and open-rehearsal venues.
PERKS: You will have contact with Academy teachers, programme coordinators and students, as well as the Verbier Festival Academy team. You will be able to attend masterclasses and open-rehearsals.
PROFILE: You are patient, like to take initiative and can be diplomatic. You are also curious about music. Speaking several languages, including French and English, is a plus.
The Unlimited programme includes a number of free and low-cost events in venues throughout Verbier, in Le Châble—both indoors and in the great outdoors. These include performances, talks and even musical hikes. This year, in the interest of contact tracing, most of these events require advance registration or ticket reservation.
Volunteers on this team will scan reservations and/or check reservation lists before admitting Festivalgoers to events. They remain on hand throughout each event to deal with a number of issues, including, but not limited to ensuring mobile telephones are quickly turned off if they sound during indoor performances, ensuring there is no photography nor recording of indoor performances (except by official photographers), and ensuring that audience members enter and exit the venues only at appropriate times.
For events that do not require prior reservation, members of this volunteer team may be required to check-in Festivalgoers via an electronic pass (likely through a mobile phone app).
Audience Relations Team members are also on-hand to field any questions from Festivalgoers and may, from time to time, be asked to assist the Unlimited team with logistical or production tasks.
PERKS: You will work with artists, speakers, the Unlimited team and experience curious Festival events first-hand.
PROFILE: You enjoy a variety of challenges and like to roll up your sleeves to take initiative. You have diverse interests in the arts and are musically curious. Speaking several languages, including French and English, is a plus.
Making artists feel at home is essential for a great performance. Members of the Backstage Crew play an important part in making this possible. They prepare artist dressing rooms and ensure that artists’ needs are met backstage.
PERKS: Contact with artists appearing at the Festival
PROFILE: You speak French and English fluently, are service-minded and have a sense of discretion. You are familiar with the world of classical music and confident dealing with important people.
The Verbier Festival attracts journalists from all over the world. Our volunteer Press Assistants work closely with the staff Press Coordinator to assist these journalists during their visit, from offering directions to arranging concert tickets.
PERKS: You learn how a busy press office functions during an international cultural event, with close contact with journalist, artists and members of the professional Press Coordination team.
PROFILE: You have studied or wish to study communications or journalism, and have interest in classical music. You are professional, efficient and flexible, with strong interpersonal and public relations skills. Speaking several languages (including French and English) is a plus.
Press Review Assistant
The Festival generates substantial media coverage every summer. The Press Review Assistant organises and creates and archive of this coverage as it happens, creates a daily summary of all press that is generated and identifies press quotes that can be used in future Festival marketing efforts.

PROFILE: You have studied or wish to study communications or journalism, and have interest in classical music. You are professional, meticulous, efficient and flexible, with strong interpersonal and public relations skills. You are comfortable using Microsoft Word. Speaking several languages (including French and English) is a plus.
The Promotions Squad ensures that Festival promotional materials are distributed and visible throughout Verbier during the Festival period. These volunteers distribute printed materials, including the daily Festival newspaper, brochures, programmes and flyers, and hang posters in approved locations. The Squad works closely with the Communications team.
PERKS: You are in direct contact with the Festivalgoers and local business owners, are up to date with the latest news about the Festival, and get lots of exercise walking around Verbier.
PROFILE: You are versatile, organized and can work quickly under pressure. Speaking several languages (including French and English) is a plus.
Social Media Assistants
Social Media Assistants are content creators for the Festival’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter organic posts. They capture unique moments of the Festival with captioned photos and videos and submit their posts for publishing by the staff social media team.
PERKS: These volunteers will attend a wide-range of concerts and events at the Festival and learn from a professional social media team on best practices.
PROFILE: You are familiar with social networks and how they work. You have an eye for striking photos and compelling videos. You are familiar with editing techniques for short video formats or other types of web content. You are observant and good at putting your thoughts into words.
Translator (French to English)
Most Festival communication is undertaken in both French and English. This volunteer translates our texts from French to English.
PERKS: You work closely with the Communications team throughout the Festival and play an important role in maintaining high quality printed and digital communication.
PROFILE: You are an exceptional writer who is familiar with the world of classical music and is comfortable using Microsoft Word. You are bilingual (English-French).
The Verbier Festival welcomes many special guests each summer. Members of the Concierge Team greet, inform and act as guides for these important visitors. They support Festival’s professional Protocol team and the Association of Friends of the Verbier Festival at the opening evening of the Festival and at post-concert dinners.
PERKS: By working closely with both the professional Protocol team and the Friends Association, you and will enjoy contact with national and international personalities, world-class artists and the Festival team.
PROFILE: You are familiar with the world of classical music and comfortable in dealing with important people. You are efficient, flexible, and your strong interpersonal skills are complemented by a service mentality and a sense of professionalism. You speak French and English; additional languages are a plus. You must be ready to work evenings.
covid safety team
Our return to the Verbier Festival comes with new measures to ensure the safety of our artists, public and team. The Festival is implementing protocols to ensure everyone’s safety. Covid Safety Team members inform, raise awareness, guide and ensure compliance to safety measures. They provide a friendly and kind reminder that we all have a responsibility to stop the spread of the Covid-19 virus. The team works at various locations and during key moments of the Festival.
PERKS: You are in direct contact with Festivalgoers, artists and the Festival team and play an important part in the Festival’s Covid-19 protection plan. You see and experience many aspects of the Festival in many different locations.
PROFILE: You know both the Verbier Festival and resort of Verbier well. You are outgoing, curious and enjoy connecting with people. You know how to remain calm in all circumstances and demonstrate responsiveness and diplomacy. Yand are aware of safety protocols. You speak several languages well (minimum French and English).
With such a full programme at the Verbier Festival, Festivalgoers sometimes need guidance on which events to choose, where to go and how to get there, not to mention updates on last-minute changes. And of course, there are visitors to Verbier who stumble upon the Festival for the first time! Information Officers keep visitors informed, face to face or over the phone.
PERKS: You will be in direct contact with Festivalgoers and the Festival team. You will be among the first to know what is happening each day at the Festival. Your evenings will be free to attend concerts.
PROFILE: You know both the Verbier Festival and resort of Verbier well. You are outgoing, inquisitive and good at searching out information. You know how to stay calm under pressure and are responsive and diplomatic. You speak French and English, and ideally some other languages too.
vf kids helpers
VF Kids, presented by Unlimited, is the Festival’s programme for children. It includes Storytellers—programme through which children explore a well-known story set to the music of a famous composer, and Opera Dahu—an opportunity for kids to create their own version of a popular opera. This year, VF Kids is presented primarily at Espace Saint-Marc in Le Châble. These volunteers work with the VF Kids team to supervise two groups of children: those aged 5 to 8 and 9 to 12.
PERKS: A great experience for those looking to work in the field music appreciation for young people. This is a a position with lots of variety and fun, which allows you to be free to attend Festival concerts in the evenings.
PROFILE: You enjoy working with children, rolling up your sleeves and taking initiative. Speaking several languages, including French and English, is a plus. A background check may be required.
welcome pack team
Artists, journalists, special guests and Festival team members receive a welcome pack upon arrival at the Festival—an important first impression for the Festival. Members of the Welcome Pack Team collect the contents of these welcome packs and prepare them.
PERKS: You will work in a relaxed atmosphere, collaborating closely with the Hospitality team. There will be no contact with the public and you will only be needed for two hours in the latter part of the morning.
PROFILE: You are fast, flexible and organised.
