L’altiste australienne Isabella Bignasca étudie en Master auprès de Paul Neubauer et Heidi Castleman à la Juilliard School, où elle a également fait ses études de premier cycle. L’année dernière, elle participe aux Ateliers de Musique de Chambre du Perlman Music Program, figure sur la liste des artistes des Parlance Chamber Concerts et a été nommée altiste remplaçante de l’Orchestre de Floride. Elle collabore et se produit aux côtés d’Itzhak Perlman, du Borromeo Quartet et de membres de la Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. Isabella a participé à la Music Academy of the West, au Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival, à l’Aspen Music Festival and School et au Heifetz International Music Institute, où elle a ensuite fait partie de la série Heifetz on Tour.
Amihai Grosz looks back on a very unusual career path: At first a quartet player (founding member of the Jerusalem Quartet), then and until today Principal Violist with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, and also a renowned soloist.
Initially, Amihai Grosz learned to play the violin, before switching to the viola at age 11. In Jerusalem, he was taught by David Chen, later by Tabea Zimmermann in Frankfurt and Berlin as well as in Tel Aviv by Haim Taub, who had a formative influence on him. At a very early age, he received various grants and prizes and was a member of the “Young Musicians Group” of the Jerusalem Music Center, a program for outstanding young musical talents.
As a soloist, Grosz has collaborated with renowned conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Tugan Sokhiev, Klaus Mäkelä, Ariel Zukermann, Daniel Barenboim, Sir Simon Rattle, Alexander Vedernikov and Lionel Bringuier. He performs internationally with orchestras such as the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Zurich Chamber Orchestra.
In the world of chamber music, Amihai Grosz collaborates with artists such as Yefim Bronfman, Mitsuko Uchida, Daniel Hope & Friends, Eric le Sage, Janine Jansen & Friends, Julian Steckel, Daishin Kashimoto and David Geringas. Internationally, he can be heard regularly at the most prestigious concert halls such as the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Tonhalle Zurich, the Wigmore Hall in London and the Philharmonie Luxembourg, as well as at leading festivals including the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Evian, Verbier and Delft Festivals, the BBC Proms and the Utrecht International Chamber Music Festival.
The highlights of the season 22/23 are concerts with the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra, performances with the Orchestra Del Teatro Massimo di Palermo & Omer Meir Wellber, the Filarmonica de Gran Canaria & Beatriz Fernandez and the Musikalische Akademie Mannheim & Ingo Metzmacher amongst others. In the winter of 2023 Amihai will be touring Japan extensively. Performances are planned with the NHK Symphony Orchestra & Tugan Sokhiev, play-lead with the Aichi Chamber Orchestra, as well as solo performances.
Under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle Amihai will perform the Martinu Viola Concerto with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. In the upcoming summer 2023 Amihai will perform at the Verbier Festival the Sinfonia Concertante together with Janine Jansen and be involved in the festivals chamber music concerts.
As part of an important round of chamber music projects Amihai will return to perform at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Tonhalle Zurich, the Kammermusiksaal of the Berlin Philharmonic and the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. Collaborations and/or tours are planned together with with Emmanuel Pahud & Anneleen Lenaerts, the Modigliani Quartett & Nathalia Milstein and Made in Berlin.
The next recording to be released by Alpha Classic is the Bartok Viola Concerto together with the Orchestra National de Lille under the lead of Alexander Bloch. The release dates of this recording is to be announced at a later stage.
In the season of 21/22 Amihai Grosz has been appointed as Artistic Director of the International Chamber Music Festival Utrecht
Amihai Grosz plays a Gaspar-da-Salò viola from the year 1570, which is a lifelong loan made available to him by a private collection.
Philipp Sussmann a commencé le violon à l’âge de trois ans avant de passer à l’alto neuf ans plus tard. Il a été altiste principal de l’Orchestre national des jeunes d’Allemagne dirigé par Sir Simon Rattle et, en 2021, a obtenu un poste fixe dans l’Orchestre symphonique de la radio NDR. Il a remporté plusieurs premiers prix et prix spéciaux lors de concours internationaux, notamment les Szymon Goldberg et MingClassics. Il est en outre premier alto de l’orchestre du festival de Moritzburg et est tributaire d’une bourse de la Villa Musica Rheinland Pfalz.
Ni Xianhe began violin at age of seven. In 2017, he graduated from the Xinghai Music School in the Tianhe District of Guangzhou, where he studied with Hou Donglei. He went on to study at the Central Music School of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory in the class of Maria Sitkovskaya. He currently continues his studies in Moscow with Alexander Bobrovsky and Ivan Agafonov. Xianhe has a vast repertoire of standard solo and chamber works, and regularly performs the music of contemporary Chinese composers, helping to expose the music of his homeland to audiences around the globe.
Cristina Cordero poursuit actuellement son master avec Nobuko Imai et Wenting Kang à l’Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía. Diplomée de la Hochschule für Musik und Theater München avec Hariolf Schlichtig, Cristina est lauréate de plusieurs concours internationaux, dont les premiers prix du concours El Primer Palau, du concours international de musique de chambre Gerhard Vogt et du sixième concours d’alto de Vigo. Elle a donné des récitals en solo dans des salles parmi les plus prestigieuses d’Espagne, dont le Teatro Real, le Palau de la Música Catalana, l’Auditorio Príncipe Felipe et l’Auditorio Nacional. Elle se produit également régulièrement au sein de quatuors à cordes et autres ensembles de musique de chambre en Europe.
Virtuose et sensible, soliste et chambriste, tel est l’alto de Jean Sautereau. De sa formation rigoureuse au conservatoire de Paris, cette figure artistique montante retire un sens aigu de la constance et de la générosité. Primé à de nombreuses reprises, il est régulièrement soutenu par diverses fondations et est invité à jouer dans les festivals les plus prestigieux. Il est récemment lauréat de la fondation Porosus, de l’académie des Beaux-arts et reçoit le Prix André Hoffman aux Sommets musicaux de Gstaad. En jouant un récent alto de Charles Coquet, il accorde son instrument à ses visions d’avenir, pour une musique vivante et partagée, au miroir de la tradition.
Kinga Wojdalska has won numerous prizes in solo and chamber music competition, among them the Karl Doctor Prize at the Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition. She began her musical training in Warsaw and, in 2021, obtained a bachelor’s degree from the Royal College of Music in London. Currently, she is studying for a master’s soloist degree at Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, in Lawrence Power’s class. She is supported by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust and Lyra Stiftung. Kinga performed at Musikverein in Vienna and the Wigmore Hall in London, and has appeared in festivals including Encuentro de Santander (Spain) and West Wycombe Chamber Music Festival (UK) ,where she shared the stage with Vilde Frang, Ivan Monighetti and Miklós Perényi. Since 2020, she has been a member Brompton Quartet. Kinga plays a modern viola by Jerzy Maslanka.
Jack Kessler est étudiant en licence au Curtis Institute of Music, où il étudie l’alto avec Roberto Diaz et Edward Gazouleas. Il a précédemment travaillé avec Michael Klotz à la Florida International University. Jack a collaboré avec des membres de la New World Symphony, dirigée par Michael Tilson Thomas, de 2015 à 2019. Au cours des derniers étés, Jack a étudié au Center Stage Strings, au Bowdoin International Music Festival, dans le cadre du Perlman Music Program, et au Ashkenasi-Kirshbaum Chamber Music Seminar à l’Heifetz International Music Institute.
Etudiant d’Ettore Cause, l’altiste américain Brian Isaacs est diplomé de l’Université de Yale où il a obtenu une maîtrise en ‘Viola Performance’ et une licence en sociologie.
Il sera basé à Berlin à partir de septembre 2023 en tant que membre de la Karajan-Akademie der Berliner Philharmoniker. Brian a reçu plusieurs Prix pendant ses études à Yale et a interprété le Concerto pour alto de Walton avec l’Orchestre symphonique de Yale en tant que lauréat du Concours de concerto William Waite (2021). Il a été demi-finaliste au Concours international de alto de Primrose (2021), au Concours international de musique de Kodály (2022) et lauréat du Rubinstein International Viola Competition (2019). Brian s’est produit dans de nombreux festivals et académies américains, asiatiques et européens, notamment à Bowdoin, Gimhae, Heyri, Moritzburg, NUME, NYO-USA, NYSOS, Schiermonnikoog, Taos, Thy et Yanghwajin. Il a participé à la Verbier Festival Academy en 2022. Brian joue sur un alto Douglas Cox de 2011, généreusement prêté par la Virtu Foundation.
Otoha Tabata first studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School with Boris Kucharsky before going to the Royal College of Music in London, where she was a student of Andriy Viytovych. She continues her studies now at the RCM with Nathan Braude. Otoha performs internationally and across Europe, having appeared as soloist at the Wigmore Hall, Concertgebouw, and Queen Elizabeth Hall. She was awarded Third Prize at the Windsor Festival International String Competition (2021), the Promotion Prize at the Anton Rubinstein Viola Competition (2018), and an Honorary Mention at the Oskar Nedbal Viola Competition (2010). She regularly performs in festivals such as IMS Open Chamber Music, is a regular participant at the Seiji Ozawa International Academy, and took part in the Verbier Festival Academy in 2021, where she received a Special Prize of Merit. Otoha is a member of the renowned LGT Young Soloists, performing in numerous concert tours around the world and making several recordings. Most recently she recorded Paganini La Campanella with the ensemble in Abbey Road Studios, and recorded a new disc in Teldex Studios to be released in 2023. Otoha performs on a Charles Boullangier viola, kindly loaned by the Royal College of Music.
