Biography
The folk music ensemble apartig was founded in 2007. The joy of folk music brought the six musicians from the Oberwallis together.
Original compositions by Tobias Salzgeber and David Elsig give the ensemble its “apartig” style. Diverse and innovative in harmony and rhythm, traditional and new, local and foreign go hand in hand.
Theater music and poetry settings by Tobias Salzgeber round off the broad musical palette of original compositions. (Music for the open-air theaters “tenebrae” (2013) and “Walliser Totentanz” (2022), “Soldat & Teufel” (2024) – “Jakobea” (2025) – setting of a short story by Wilfried Meichtry “Der Herr der Lüfte” (2017)
“Walliser” music is cultivated with pieces by the musician from Naters Amadé Salzmann or with arrangements of old “Wallsier” dances, for example by the legendary Walpen brothers (dWalpini).
Swiss music is presented in Schottisch, Polka and Co. with arrangements of traditional pieces from the Hanny-Christen collection.
