Ravel’s Concerto in G is a masterpiece, known for its vibrant colours and dazzling energy, contrasted by the deep lyricism of its slow movement. The outstanding young musicians of the Verbier Festival Junior Orchestra perform this iconic work with Roberto González-Monjas conducting and Jean-Efflam Bavouzet at the piano. The programme also features Elgar’s Enigma Variations, one of the most iconic works in English classical music.

100 ans de Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau

Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau’s voice is forever linked to the Lieder of Schubert, Wolf, and Brahms. His influence on the genre as profound as Maria Callas’s on opera. To mark what would have been his 100th birthday, Benjamin Appl, one of Fischer-Dieskau’s last protégés, presents a programme of cherished works from the great baritone’s repertoire. The evening also features previously unpublished anecdotes and excerpts from his correspondence, offering a rare glimpse into the life of Germany’s greatest Lieder singer.
