CESÁRIA ÉVORA ORCHESTRA
Cesária Évora’s bandmates transform Le Cinéma into a Cape Verdean party — where morna meets coladeira, and music, rhythm, and dance fill the night.
An icon of Cape Verde and one of the most beloved voices in world music, Cesária Évora turned melancholy into universal poetry through her unmistakable voice and disarming presence. Her passing in 2011 left an immense void, yet her spirit continues to live through those who shared the stage with her.
Born from the desire to keep that spirit alive, the Cesaria Evora Orchestra reunites her original musicians to rekindle the warmth, groove, and intimacy that defined her concerts. Since its debut at the Kriol Jazz Festival in Praia, the ensemble has carried the beauty of morna and the irresistible energy of coladeira to audiences around the world.
In Verbier, they open our Summer of UNLTD Music with a night of rhythm, saudade, and celebration — a vibrant tribute to the Barefoot Diva and to the luminous soul of Cape Verde.
