Arturo Toscanini said, “There are two kinds of conductors: those who have the score in their head and those who have their head in the score.”
Needless to say, the conductors present in Verbier this year fall into the first category! Whether they are Festival regulars (Mäkelä, Takács-Nagy), returning to Verbier after a few seasons away from Valais (Järvi, Honeck, Luisi), or taking the Verbier stage for the first time (Hannigan, Alarcón, Currentzis), they will once again be the heroes of our three orchestras this summer.
Don’t miss them!

Acclaimed conductor, notably at the head of his ensemble Capella Mediterranea, harpsichordist, organist, entrepreneur (La Cité bleue in Geneva) and even sometimes composer, the Argentinian musician Leonardo García Alarcón is an artist of multiple talent. At the heart of his career is the immense Johann Sebastian Bach, who has overwhelmed him since the age of 8. For his first visit to Verbier, he will conduct one of the ultimate masterpieces of the Cantor of Leipzig, and of all sacred music, the Mass in B minor. Not to be missed under any circumstances!
