Pianist Denis Matsuev joins forces with Trumpeter Timur Martynov for a dazzling opening to the Festival. A performance of Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 1, with the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra, under the baton of Valery Gergiev, is followed by Prokofiev’s “Classical” Symphony No. 1.
