Stanford Live Announces Special Partnership with the Verbier Festival
November 7, 2024 | This groundbreaking collaboration will feature a week-long series of events hosted by Stanford Live in April 2025.
This unique residency is designed to offer both organizations the opportunity to exchange ideas, collaborate with students, engage the community and foster long-term partnerships, both at Stanford and in Verbier, Switzerland. Stanford students will have the rare opportunity to attend open rehearsals and panel discussions, and work closely with Verbier musicians, exploring repertoire, refining performance techniques, and participating in masterclasses and coachings.
The partnership reflects Stanford Live’s commitment to promoting artistic excellence by engaging with students and the community at large, and fostering partnerships across the campus. It also speaks to one of the most important aims of the Verbier Festival, transmission of musical knowledge between generations.
The residency culminates in the highly anticipated return to the West Coast of the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra. The performance, led by VFCO Music Director Gábor Takács-Nagy, the renowned Hungarian conductor and founder of the Takács Quartet, will be the culmination of Stanford Live’s ongoing celebration of the music of Mahler and the Second Viennese School.
Join us in celebrating this exceptional artistic exchange. More to follow with a detailed announcement in January 2025.
The Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra performance is generously supported by David Wollenberg and The Wollenberg Foundation.
